Give Yourself To The World

Today, I wake up and I am grateful for another day. As it is my mom's birthday today, I am reminded that nothing in this life is promised. Some don't make it to their 48th birthday like my mom. Some don't make it to their 20th birthday, or their 30th birthday. Throughout all of the madness in life we lose touch with the reality of what matters the most; connection, family, love, gratitude...and so on. Yet, it is so often that I find many, myself included, caught up on the lesser things in life that do not serve us. Stripped down to its core, we should be practicing gratitude for each day that we are gifted and not guaranteed. It is too easy to become ungrounded and fall into old patterns or routines that do not fill you with joy or purpose. We once again lose what it means to be alive.
Buddha once said, "Your work is to discover your world and then with all of your heart give yourself to it". How much of ourselves do we give to our world daily? Is it that we have become ignorant to what we have been granted, or overlooked that which we have been given? Let us be selfless, let us not fight for so called "success" or measure our worth by material things. But rather, let our true success be measured in how much of our heart we give back to the world. For each of us have a truer purpose, and we all deserve to have a relationship with the world, thus having a deeper relationship with ourselves.
